The Dark Side

Devious smoky eyes and sensual dark lips have always been considered beautiful and erotic through out film and fashion history. However, this look has definitely been given a lot more hype in the past couple years due to the surge of vampy movie’s and TV shows.. Twilight, True Blood, Vampire diaries to name a few.. YES it is sexy to be a blood sucking naughty little vampire!  Duh !! So go ahead and get your dark side on.

Black eye liner was first worn in ancient Egypt by women and men that contained led contrary to popular belief to heal and protect against bacteria and disease.  They also wanted to ward off those bad spirits and protect against the “evil eye”.  We now find that too much led can cause serious illness and can lead to brain damage among other things.  Everyone by now knows to stay away from chemicals, no parabens, and try to buy VEGAN cosmetics but it still gets a bit overwhelming at times. The REAL dark side to the beauty and fashion industry lies in, animal testing, toxic chemicals, overpriced miracle creams, the need for perfection, and ageism I could go on forever.

Good news! You can embrace your inner Goth without the harsh chemicals and products tested on cute little bunnies.  I’m obsessed with SMASHBOX jet set waterproof black gel liners. They glide on easy and stay all night.  I also stumbled upon Portland Black Makeup Co that specializes in all natural makeup for that un-natural look!!  Just remember you can achieve your sexy sinister look without selling your soul.
