Holiday Gift Guide JORD Wood Watch Collab

The air has gotten crisp and snow is starting to sprinkle, putting everyone in the Holiday spirit.  Christmas is right around the corner! How did the season get here so quickly? Luckily, like so many other people, if you haven't completed your holiday shopping you still have time.

Nothing says Merry Christmas like a timeless piece of jewelry or a watch.  I've recently fell in love with JORD Wood Watches. JORD uses over 13 types of wood.  My favorite watch (that I've pictured below), is made from Sandalwood. "Different species of sandalwood are found around the world. Prized for its fragrance which it can retain for decades after cutting, the oil in sandalwood has been used for centuries in cosmetics, eastern medicine and religious ceremonies. JORD uses various species of sandalwood, each chosen for their unique and varying color tones. Red, Black/Brown, and green sandalwood can all be seen in our line"- JORD

I've teamed up with JORD for a SPECIAL Holiday Giveaway! The giveaway is now open and will run through 1/15/17 at 11:59pm. Anyone who signs up through the giveaway link below, will get a $25 JORD e gift code, and 1 winner will get a $100 JORD e gift code! Both codes will expire on 3/31/17. 2016 Beauty Trends: Cinema Secrets

My newest makeup obsession in 2016..... Cinema Secrets!  As I walked into Cinema Secrets Beauty Supply located in the heart of Burbank (Los Angeles), California I was quickly greeted by all of the makeup artist rocking their flawless on trend looks.  I met with Danny Stein the Co-Owner of Cinema  Secrets and got a tour of the retail location before I set down with their makeup artist Dana Lauren for a one-on-one lesson all about their products.

I'm one of the pickiest when it comes to foundation, tinted moisturizers, concealers, and any sort of primer or sealer.  I found that whats so unique and wonderful about Cinema Secrets is that it caters to professional makeup artist to stay at home moms.
You can build the foundation using the moisture spray. Blend the color palette to contour your face.  Also, using different colors to cover bruising or bags underneath the eyes create flawless and easy to use concealer and foundation.  You can purchase Cinema Secrets single Ultra Foundation or the Pro 5 in 1 pallet depending on your needs.

"The creamy formula applies like a second skin yet provides full coverage to diminish skin discolorations, birthmarks, burn scars, even large body tattoos! All Ultimate Foundations are free of mineral oil, lanolin, and petroleum products. High pigmentation is the key to coverage, and durable high-quality ingredients make this cosmetic last up to 12 hours, even in humid climates (it's completely waterproof!). Soft, natural matte finish spreads farther than most other foundations and will not cake or crease." www.cinemasecrets.com

Since I work with a lot of patients after undergoing noninvasive procedures like botox, injections or lasers, this is a great safe, quality product that is waterproof, covering any type of imperfections.

Not only am I a fan of their face products but their color palettes and brush cleaner are to die for.
My daytime look using everything pictured above!

Here are some photos below of my other favorite products.
Lipstick and glitter with sealer.
Moisturizer and scrub for the lips.

Yves Saint Laurent Beauty 2015

I'm fresh faced and ready for my makeover at YSL.  I've always been a huge fan of their touche éclat and delicious smelling fragrances.  Before I sit down I gaze upon all the newest color pallets I'm immediately drawn to their lipsticks.  I'm a huge "matte" lipstick fan so I was a bit skeptical with all the lush moisturizing products.  During my makeover I became instantly obsessed with their foundation

LE TEINT TOUCHE ÉCLAT Illuminating Foundation SPF 19

. It was light weight but gave me great even coverage.  Their bronzer was NOT orange, their blushes were bright & glided on very easy.  My two favorite items were the brow gel, can i say ahhhhhmazing!  It didn't clump and looked very natural due to the smaller shape of the brush.  The mascara was to die for!  I left with the new collection, mascara, brow gels and eyeliners! What a treat.

Let me get back to the lipsticks. With the precision lip liners -(I love the shape/packaging because I don't have to sharpen them as often) coloring in my lips and painting on not only the mattes but the

YVES SAINT LAURENT BEAUTY

Rouge Pur Couture

lipsticks stayed on for hours with NO bleeding or smudging.  I'm sold! YSL you own my heart.  This fall 2015 collection is a 10 in my beauty files!

Plastic Surgery is the New Makeup "Nip Tuck or Else"

Monday morning routine starts: Shower, wash your face, put on skincare, makeup and now style your hair. Book your nail appointment for Thursday and don't forget eyebrows since that big event is on Saturday!  As you put on your makeup you notice a little wrinkle and as you line your lips you begin to think about how cute you might look with a little more pout.   All your friends have tried it and talked about it over lunch so why not? Botox is a preventative part of a skincare routine. It doesn't hurt AND EVERYONE is doing it!

TIME Magazine released their June 2015 issue Nip Tuck or Else Now everyone get's work done. Will you? I't seems women are having botox parties and no one is bashful about what they get done anymore.   At one point in the early 1900's women were buying makeup under the table and sneaking around to have their hair dyed.  Can you imagine? Black market makeup? Now this new generation is the first to accept that plastic surgery is the norm and it is here to stay.  The real key is the less painless, noninvasive treatments like juvederm (numbing with lidocaine) and botox. Or freezing fat cells away using the new Coolsculpting technology. Companies have now equipped their laser machines with methods to keep hair and tattoo removal nearly pain free!  These treatments work and have lasting results. The best part is that you can sneak away on a lunch break from work, have a treatment and head back.  There is literally no downtime with many of these noninvasive procedures.  It's genius.

Feminist Jennifer Cognard-Black Professor of English, Women and Sexuality Studies at St Mary's College of Maryland said "I would have said getting your boobs done or tummy flattened is not feminist, and now I'm really not sure".  In 2013 almost 300,000 breast augmentations were performed nation wide. That's a 35% increase since 2000, Plasticsurgery.org.  This excludes fat grafting to the breast and breast reconstruction which is performed for breast cancer survivors after undergoing a mastectomy.

Even studies show how acceptable cosmetic enhancement is.  An MSN survey stated that in 2014 62% of people finding out a friend had work done thought "good for them".  Another study from American Society of Dermatologist released that 52% of Americans were considering having aesthetic treatments.  "That's a 30% increase in two years. Cosmetic Surgery has become the new makeup" Joel Stein Time Magazine.

Brazil & Columbia are considered to be filled with the most beautiful exotic women. No wonder there is a high correlation with plastic surgery procedures.  In Columbia over 500 clinics are available and in Medillin there are programs offered to the poorest communities for free plastic surgery.  In the 80's and 90's Pablo Escobar was featured in Forbes Magazine 227 Billionaires.  The drug lord and his Medillin Cartel were obsessed with women and body image so it became the evolution of social status for their country.   "No tits, no paradise". Jono Cusack  With cheaper price quotes and combos for breast augmentation, tummy tucks and Lipo etc. one must be very cautious about surgeries performed in South America.  There are high number's of botched procedures leaving people disfigured coming back to America only needing more surgery in the long run.

With plastic surgery and noninvasives becoming the next beauty trend it's always important to choose a board certified plastic surgeon and do your research.  It's worth it.

A New Era of Plastic Surgery and Fashion 2015

Plastic surgery has come a long way since the early 1900’s where surgeries were performed for WW1 trauma burn victims or patients who suffered facial lacerations due to injuries from say automobile accidents.

In the early 60’’s and 70’s plastic surgeons repaired facial deformities & the first silicone breast implant was unveiled.  In the 80’s Lipo came to the US.

According to statistics released today by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), 14.6 million cosmetic plastic surgery procedures, including both minimally-invasive and surgical, were performed in the United States in 2012, up 5 percent since 2011.” – ASPS

You’ve heard of all the celebrities getting a little botox here and there before red carpet events but now it’s becoming MUCH more mainstream.

It’s not just celebrities getting a little nip or tuck it’s anyone and everyone. It's the latest fashion accessory; mentions Nov. 2014 Fashion Magazine article. (read below)
Procedures such as Coolsculpt and ThermiTight are the latest out on the market and looks like they are here to stay.  Coolsculpt literally freezes the fat and then eliminates fat cells without surgery or downtime.  The results are phenomenal.  Thermitight uses radio frequency and is great for skin tightening of face, neck, tummy & thighs without surgery.

I have the pleasure of working with Dr. Leif Rogers, M.D. FAQS who offers both Coolsculpt and Thermitight in both Beverly Hills and Pasadena locations.  Check out the articles below and mention my name for future consults. And of course for all your beauty and skincare questions contact me at wolfecosmetics@gmail.com or follow me on Instagram @courtneywolfe

Paul Schütze and the Loss of the Book

This exhibit speaks volumes to me.  I've spent countless hours rummaging through antique stores, hunting and collecting rare antiquarian books.  Paul Schutze combined old books with scent to remind us how the senses of touch and smell play a pertinent role on our unconscious mind.

I'm mourning the loss of the "classic" book.  There's something to say about nestling in a corner with your favorite read. Whether it's pages have that faint musky decaying smell or feel of crisp fresh new it evokes an emotional experience that last forever.

For the Bibliophiles...
